Pirates fans couldn't wait for Marte's debut, who was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis, to reach the majors, and he didn't disappoint, taking Dallas Keuchel's first pitch for a leadoff home run to left-center.

Ben Sheets helped lead the Braves to a 6-1 win over the Mets on Sunday in his first Major League start since 2010. He was so excited to be back at the highest level that he broke tradition and watched the final three innings from the dugout instead of the clubhouse. "I like to do that and I've had very good feedback on it," Sheet said. "You work so hard to get a victory. I ain't going to leave them out there. They're battling for me." Sheets pitched six scoreless innings to earn the win in his first game in two years. The right-hander allowed two hits and one walk with five strikeouts in his first start since July 19, 2010.

Jim Thome was hitless in his debut with the Orioles on Sunday afternoon against the Indians. Acquired in a trade with Philadelphia on Saturday, the 41-year-old slugger struck out twice and grounded out twice against the team with which he broke into the majors in 1991.
